Career Coaching
Career coaching is a student-centered partnership between student and career coach designed to assist the student in developing career management skills while meeting the student’s career goals.
Individual career coaching appointments are available to students and recent graduates regarding all areas of career planning and preparation. Appointments can be scheduled online through Handshake, our online career platform.
The Career Coach/Career Mentor will:
- Review appointment request and any related notes in advance of the meeting.
- Fully engage in appointment through active listening.
- Be available for future appointments or correspondence if additional support is needed.
- Provide a safe space for reflection, pose insightful questions, connect you to internal and external resources, direct you to career-field specific resources, and share strategies for building connections.
The Student is expected to:
- Arrive to appointment on time; be prepared with questions and the means to take notes.
- Be prepared to share their purpose and goals for the appointment.
- Take responsibility for their own career development by being open to reflective conversations, engaging in recommended activities, and/or completing action steps between appointments.
