STEM

S.T.E.M. stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. Many students who fall into majors that align with these areas of interest are analytical thinkers who like to use their time and energy to explore the unknown and create solutions to problems. By working on the problems of tomorrow now, Augustana students continue to show the world that it needs our graduates.

While this may sound intimidating, STEM has opportunities for every kind of student as these majors are often combined with non-STEM fields such as Business or Psychology. These combinations can result in unique jobs and careers such as Special Effects Coordinators, Game Designer, Exotic Animal Expert, Genetic Counselors, Web Developers, Food and Flavor Chemists, and Medical Illustrators to name a few!

Some examples of majors that fall into STEM are Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Geography, Geology, and Mathematics.

Augustana separates majors such as Pre-Med, Pre-Nursing, Public Health, Environmental Studies, and Speech-Language Pathology into the Health Sciences or Environmental Studies career interest clusters. Please see the Health Sciences or Environmental Studies pages for more information on these areas of interest.
