Viking Score

The Viking Score is Augustana College’s career-readiness program to support students through college and post-graduate life by tracking experiences and awarding points to earn incentives along the way.

The Viking Score motivates students to take small steps ensuring they are on the right path to getting to where they want to be. Viking Score Activities are designed to move students smoothly, at their own pace, through the process of career development and vocation.

Students can earn Viking Score Points throughout each academic year to receive rewards. Points are tallied for activities completed prior to April 30 each year. Students will be informed via email of their points, earned incentives, and how to pick them up.

Viking Score points are awarded for a mix of individual activities that may include worksheets, reflections with your Career Coach, or skill-building experiences.  The Viking Score is divided into four distinct stages following the Career Development Process however students may complete the activities at any time throughout their college experience.

Exploration: Know Yourself

Exploration begins with acquiring self-knowledge by understanding your interests, skills, values, and the needs of community.

Preparation: Define Your Path

Once you learn more about who you are through EXPLORATION, you can begin to define your where you want to go and prepare for how to get there.

Experience: Try it Out

An integral part of achieving career success includes Gaining Experience. CORE was created to make the process of finding and completing what are often referred to as High Impact Practices or Experiential Learning possible. Examples of experiential learning include Internships, Student Research, Study Away, EDGE Center activities, Volunteer and Community Service, and Student Employment.

Career Ready: Share Your Story

Career Ready not only means you have the skills and experience future employers and graduate programs desire but also means you are able to identify and communicate what those Career Readiness Skills are.

Points & Incentives

Viking Score points are tallied for activities completed prior to April 30 each year. Students will be informed via email of their points, earned incentives, and how to pick them up.
