Group O is seeking an IT Intern to grow within our developing Information Technology group.
This will be a part-time role – 20 hours per week.
As an IT Intern, you will be an integral part of our IT team, assisting in various areas including helpdesk support, information security, and networking. This internship offers a firsthand learning experience in a dynamic and challenging environment, providing opportunities to develop technical skills and gain practical experience in IT operations.
The ideal individual will be a College Senior or Graduate Student working towards a degree within the Information Technology discipline and exploring opportunities for full time employment upon graduation.
Key Responsibilities
Desktop Support:
- Provide first-line technical support to end-users, responding to inquiries and troubleshooting issues related to hardware, software, and network connectivity.
- Assist in the setup, configuration, and maintenance of desktops, laptops, printers, and other peripherals.
- Document and track support tickets using the IT ticketing system, ensuring timely resolution and excellent customer service.
Information Security:
- Assist in the implementation and maintenance of information security policies, procedures, and controls.
- Monitor security alerts and logs to identify potential security incidents or vulnerabilities.
- Participate in security awareness training initiatives for employees, promoting best practices for data protection and cybersecurity.
Networking:
- Assist in the setup, configuration, and maintenance of network infrastructure components such as routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
- Troubleshoot network connectivity issues, perform basic network diagnostics, and assist in the resolution of network-related problems.
- Participate in network monitoring and performance optimization activities to ensure the reliability and efficiency of the network.
Secondary Responsibilities
- Collaborate with IT team members on various projects and initiatives, contributing to the successful delivery of IT services and solutions.
- Participate in meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities to enhance technical skills and knowledge.
- Adhere to IT policies, procedures, and standards, maintaining confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the IT Service Manager.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a degree program in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- Basic understanding of computer hardware, operating systems, and software applications.
- Strong interest in information security principles, practices, and technologies.
- Familiarity with networking concepts such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and routing.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact professionally with end-users and team members.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Eagerness to learn, adaptability, and an initiative-taking attitude towards problem-solving.
Duration and Schedule
- This internship position is part-time and is expected to last three months. The schedule can be flexible based on the intern’s availability and academic requirements.
