Career Readiness Champion Network

The Career Readiness Champion Network  provides faculty and staff the opportunity to learn how to best support students in becoming career ready and achieving post graduate success in today’s quickly evolving world of work.

Faculty members are often some of the first people students turn to when seeking career advice. Augustana College students develop some of their most marketable skills while in the classroom and feel connected to faculty.

Career Conversations are happening everywhere

We recognize that we are a community that supports students as they develop personalized pathways leading to lives of  purpose and meaning.  Career Development & Vocation aims to facilitate and coordinate a community of experts across campus to discuss and share ideas and information around career readiness and vocation along with providing access to career tools and resources.

CORE, along with Career Development & Vocation, is no longer the only resource or gatekeeper.  Engaging faculty and staff in Career Conversations is integral to the department and college vision.

Beginning Fall 2022, over 30 faculty and staff will join the Career Readiness Champion Network.  Over the course of the academic year members of the network will attend four sessions developed to help them dive deeper into their already established knowledge of career, vocation, and work with students who may or may not have a plan after Augustana.

Sessions include

  1. What Career Development & Vocation is
  2. Career Development & Vocation/CORE Services and Resources
  3. Tools You Can Use: Career Development & Vocation Toolkit for advising and the classroom.

Faculty and staff were invited who had previously been identified as someone they can trust to give them advice and resources based on their career interests, goals, and pathways.  We consider these professionals Career Champions.

At the completion, faculty and staff will receive a Career Readiness Champion Network door hanger and certificate to show their achievement of being the first cohort to work complete the Career Readiness Champion Network. They will also be recognized on campus for this accomplishment.

The cohort for the 2022-2023 Career Readiness Champion Network is full.  If you are interested being a part of the Career Readiness Champion Network for 2023-2024 email Laura Kestner-Ricketts.
