Boundless Health & Wellness Student Organization

Our mission statement is to provide health awareness and promote outreach to both students of Augustana College and its surrounding community. To accomplish this goal, members have participated in Augustana Flu Vaccine, Disaster Triage, and Stop the Bleed. We, also collaborated with local organizations to come lecture about public health topics that are prevalent within the Quad City community. For instance, members have had the opportunity to learn about the opioid epidemic and how to use Narcan. In addition, BHW hosts local public health professionals to inform members regarding what a career may look like in the field and how to get there.

BHW is partnered with the Augustana Student-Medical Reserve Corps (AS-MRC) through the Rock Island Public Health Department! This program offers students an opportunity to be educated about disaster preparedness in which they can bring back to their communities and carry the knowledge with them for life. This program asks students to act as a reservoir of volunteers if a disaster were to occur! BHW has both an academic advisor, Dara Wegman Geedy, and an outside advisor from the Rock Island Public Health Department, Kate Meyer! It is important to note that even though BHW is a public health-orientated club, all majors/minors are welcome to join. The subject of public health is very broad and therefore applicable to many professions and interests, especially if one desires to work with communities! Our Instagram is @boundless_health_wellness.
