Position Summary
Gotion is seeking a motivated Financial Analyst Intern to support the Finance and Accounting teams at our Manteno, Illinois manufacturing facility. This internship provides hands-on exposure to financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, cost analysis, and manufacturing finance within a rapidly growing battery manufacturing operation.
The intern will work closely with Finance, Accounting, Operations, Supply Chain, and other business teams to collect and analyze financial data, prepare reports, monitor expenses, and support financial planning and decision-making.
This is an excellent opportunity for a student pursuing Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Analytics, Mathematics, or a related field.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with collecting, organizing, and analyzing financial data.
- Support preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities.
- Analyze actual financial results compared with budget and forecast.
- Help identify and investigate significant variances in revenue, expenses, and operating costs.
- Support manufacturing cost analysis, including labor, materials, overhead, and production costs.
- Assist with tracking departmental spending and operating expenses.
- Prepare Excel-based financial reports, spreadsheets, charts, and presentations.
- Assist with financial modeling and data analysis.
- Support Finance teams with month-end reporting and reconciliation activities.
- Assist with gathering financial information from various departments.
- Help maintain accurate financial databases and reporting files.
- Support accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general accounting activities as needed.
- Assist with developing and maintaining financial dashboards and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Participate in process improvement projects designed to improve financial reporting and analysis.
- Work with cross-functional teams to understand business and financial drivers.
- Perform other finance and analytical projects as assigned.

Qualifications
Required
- Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in:
- Finance
- Accounting
- Economics
- Business Administration
- Business Analytics
- Mathematics
- Or a related field.
- Strong interest in finance and business analysis.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Basic to intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work with numerical and financial data.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Ability to work on-site in a manufacturing environment.
Preferred
- Coursework in Financial Analysis, Accounting, Economics, Statistics, or Business Analytics.
- Experience with Excel PivotTables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, formulas, charts, and data analysis.
- Exposure to financial modeling or forecasting through coursework or projects.
- Familiarity with ERP or financial management systems.
- Previous finance, accounting, business, or manufacturing internship experience.
- Experience working with large datasets.
- Interest in manufacturing, energy storage, automotive, or battery technology.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is an analytical, detail-oriented student who enjoys working with numbers and wants to understand how financial decisions impact a manufacturing business.
The candidate should be comfortable working in Excel, analyzing information, asking questions, and communicating findings to others.
Previous professional financial analyst experience is not required. Strong academic performance, finance or accounting coursework, Excel projects, student organizations, or previous business experience can provide relevant preparation.

Education
Required: Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Analytics, Mathematics, or a related field.
Target Graduation: Open to students graduating in 2027, 2028, or 2029.
Work Environment
- Primarily on-site at Gotion’s Manteno, Illinois manufacturing facility.
- Work will primarily take place in an office environment with opportunities to interact with manufacturing and operations teams.
- May require occasional visits to manufacturing and operational areas.
- Must follow all company safety and confidentiality policies.
Internship Objective
By the completion of the internship, the student should have developed a foundational understanding of how financial analysis, budgeting, cost management, and operational performance support decision-making within a large-scale manufacturing organization.
The intern will gain practical experience applying classroom concepts to real-world financial and business challenges while developing professional skills in financial analysis, Excel, reporting, and cross-functional communication.
