Boundless Health and Wellness student organization

In the heart of Augustana College, a dedicated group of students is making a significant impact on campus and the surrounding community through the Boundless Health and Wellness (BHW) student organization. With a mission focused on health awareness and community outreach, BHW is not just a club; it’s a force for positive change.

Bridging Gaps through Outreach

At the core of BHW’s mission is a commitment to bridging gaps in health awareness. The organization actively involves its members in essential community initiatives, such as the Augustana Flu Vaccine program, Disaster Triage efforts, and the Stop the Bleed campaign. By participating in these programs, BHW members are not only gaining valuable skills but also directly contributing to the well-being of the Augustana College community.

Collaborative Learning for Public Health Advocacy

BHW goes beyond traditional campus boundaries by collaborating with local organizations. Through these partnerships, BHW members have the opportunity to delve into public health topics that resonate with the Quad City community. One standout example is the exploration of the opioid epidemic and the hands-on training on how to use Narcan. This initiative not only educates members but also empowers them to be advocates in combating prevalent health issues.

Nurturing Future Leaders in Public Health

The organization takes a proactive approach to preparing its members for careers in public health. BHW hosts local public health professionals who share insights into potential career paths and the impact one can make in the field. This exposure is invaluable for students considering a career in public health, offering them a glimpse into the real-world challenges and rewards of working in the community.

A Partnership for Disaster Preparedness

One of BHW’s standout partnerships is with the Augustana Student-Medical Reserve Corps (AS-MRC) through the Rock Island Public Health Department. This collaboration provides students with education on disaster preparedness, empowering them to be a reservoir of volunteers in case of emergencies. The program not only enhances students’ skills but also instills a sense of responsibility to give back to their communities.

Inclusivity Beyond Majors and Minors

While BHW is a public health-oriented club, it welcomes students from all majors and minors. The broad nature of public health makes it applicable to various professions and interests. BHW recognizes that a diverse group brings unique perspectives and strengths to the table, enriching the overall experience for its members.
