Hi everyone, my name is Alexander Tosetti and this is my Deloitte experience this summer!
Throughout the summer, I had many unique opportunities through my internship at Deloitte. I
traveled to Minneapolis for my first day, to Westlake, Texas for a three-day conference, audited
government contracts, saw an F-18 fly over the workplace, networked, and met so many great
people, and made a lot of memories.

My favorite part of the internship was the happy hour networking events. Over the course of the summer, I was able to explore St. Louis while being in a group. We went to St. Charles after our impact day, spent a night at the Cardinals game, bar-hopped around Soulard, and met some of next summer’s interns at Paddy O’s. While at these events, I expanded my professional network significantly. I was able to connect on LinkedIn with most of the professionals. I feel like the connections that I built will be very beneficial in my career down the road.
Overall, on the technical side of the internship, I feel like I built my skills as an auditor greatly. Coming in, I felt like I understood the basic principles and definitions of auditing terms. Throughout the first week of the internship, we did all of our training over Deloitte’s software platforms and a basic overview of what we would be doing. The first week of training was good for a high-level discussion, but I didn’t feel like I really learned a whole lot until we started on client engagement. Once we were hands-on with different work papers, that is when I felt like I was building my skills as an auditor.

I would say that this summer was a success. I determined that I love the fast pace of Big4. Even though we weren’t in a busy season, I felt I got to experience a little taste of what it would be like during Q2 prep. I am pleased to say that I did receive an offer to return as a full-time staff next fall. I loved the experience that I had, and I am looking forward to getting my career started with Deloitte next fall.
