Hello everyone! My name is Janey Locander and this is my journey at the Midwest Writing Center.
I have been involved with the Midwest Writing Center since summer 2019 where I first took part in their yearly Young Emerging Writers program as an intern! Through the experience interns aged 15-19 get practice in performance along writing and editing work for the Atlas, a book filled with writings from the program. Interns also get many opportunities to learn from workshop leaders which was my role this summer. Throughout this experience I’ve gotten to grow immensely in my confidence and gain experience with professional writers in my community.
I am so thankful for all the growth this program has offered me and would encourage anyone to take a chance on whatever opportunity interests them! You never know where it might lead.
