How To Stay Motivated During Finals Week

Finals Week is here!! Check out these great study/ well-being tips to help you get through this stressful week!!

Tip #1: Make sure that you recharge. In between all those long study sessions, make sure that you are taking breaks to do something that you actually enjoy doing. This actually helps your brain to understand and comprehend all of the information you are studying!!

Tip #2: Evaluate Your Expectations! Perfect is just not possible and that is OKAY! Don’t put too much pressure on yourself or else it will actually hinder your ability to do your best! You are capable to accomplish everything on your to do list!

Tip #3 for staying motivated during Finals Week: Take Breaks! We already had one of our tips about taking breaks, but it is THAT important! Breaks can give your brain time to get perspective and collect all of your thoughts. The Pomodoro Technique is a great way to study that incorporates breaks into the routine! Check it out!!

Tip #4: Listen to your body! You body know exactly what you are needing/ missing even when your mind chooses to ignore it. Taking care of yourself during finals week should be a priority so make sure that you are eating, drinking water, sleeping, and spending time with friends. All of these things can actually make your study time more productive!

Tip #5: Don’t Compare Stress. Comparing stress is something that (when everyone is stressed out) can happen very easily. “Stress bragging” can actually negatively impact your mental health and make you think that your stress is not enough. This is not true. Make sure that you are prioritizing self-care during this time.

Tip #6: Don’t be afraid to ask for help! These are some of the most stressful times in a student’s career. Remember that you have people who care for you and want you to succeed (even your teachers!) Don’t be afraid to talk to your loved ones or teachers if you are struggling with a class or mentally. Augie has great free resources if you need to talk to someone.

Tip #7: Remember that this is temporary! Your grades are not a reflection of who you are as a person. Even though things may seem hard and difficult right now, you can get through it! And remember… SUMMER is so close!!!

Good Luck on all of your exams!!
