Explore Affinities/Identities

Often students identifying with specific affinities and identities have different career resource needs. Career Development & Vocation strives to offer current resources to assist students as they navigate their career development journeys.

  • Review each identity. Consider past and current students who might benefit from knowing these resources exist. How might you share these resources with them?

We encourage students to think about their futures through the lends of career fields of interest rather than majors.  The liberal arts education allows students to think outside their majors and consider how they can use their skills and experiences from a variety of disciplines and interests.

Explore The Viking Score

The Viking Score motivates students to take small steps ensuring they are on the right path to getting to where they want to be. Viking Score Activities are designed to move students smoothly, at their own pace, through the process of career development and vocation.

Students can earn Viking Score Points throughout each academic year to receive rewards. Points are tallied for activities completed prior to April 30 each year. Students will be informed via email of their points, earned incentives, and how to pick them up.

Viking Score points are awarded for a mix of individual activities that may include worksheets, reflections with your Career Coach, or skill-building experiences.  The Viking Score is divided into four distinct stages following the Career Development Process however students may complete the activities at any time throughout their college experience. 

Exploration: Know Yourself
Exploration begins with acquiring self-knowledge by understanding your interests, skills, values, and the needs of community.
Experience: Try it Out
An integral part of achieving career success includes Gaining Experience. CORE was created to make the process of finding and completing experiential learning which includes Internships, Student Research, Study Away, EDGE Center activities, Volunteer and Community Service, and Student Employment.
Preparation: Define Your Path
Once you learn more about who you are through EXPLORATION, you can begin to define your where you want to go and prepare for how to get there.
Career Ready: Share Your Story
Career Ready not only means you have the skills and experience future employers and graduate programs desire but also means you are able to identify and communicate what those Career Readiness Skills are.  
Points & Incentives
Viking Score points are tallied for activities completed prior to April 30 each year. Students will be informed via email of their points, earned incentives, and how to pick them up.

This form can be used to submit information on the activities you have completed for Viking Score points. You may complete and submit this form more than once.

Explore Viking Connections

Viking Connections is Augustana College’s Career Alumni Connector Network to bring together accomplished alumni and students.

Alumni Connectors are available to share advice on careers, industries, employment trends, and organizations within their areas of expertise. These mentoring relationships support and guide students — as well as young alumni  — as they navigate their careers or consider graduate school.

Explore Outcomes

Student Outcomes are part of an annual First Destination Survey administered for each graduating class.  Data collected includes what students are doing within 6 months of graduation.
