Local Grant Funded Internship Opportunities!

Augustana College has received grant funds from the Illinois Board of Higher Education to support local partner organizations to provide paid internships for students whose hometown is in the state of Illinois. The purpose of the Emerging Professionals Grant Program is to provide more opportunities for Illinois resident students to have professional experiences related to their field of study. Grant funds will be used to pay qualified students an hourly wage ($17/hour.) Emerging Professionals internships must be registered for at least 0 credit.

Below are the organizations and opportunities available for Summer 2025. To apply for these positions, follow the link on the title of the position you are interested in:

  • Nonprofit Experiential Internship: Work in the restaurant where needed (kitchen, serving, set up) 2 shifts/week. Help with data collection and entry of produce donations.  Help convey information regarding our farmers, nutrition, and sustainable practices.  General outreach to the community.  Help in NEST Café’s garden caring for plants and transporting produce to NEST.

  • Educational Outreach & Special Projects Intern: WQPT PBS seeks a highly motivated, self-starting student who is passionate about public broadcasting and educational outreach. The Educational Outreach & Special Projects Intern will provide hands-on support to the Educational Outreach Department. Duties include: Serve as PBS Ambassador during outreach programs; Provide support for First Book donation program; Assist with social media promotions; Present educational workshops based on PBS programs; Assist with the planning and implementation of WQPT events; Represent WQPT in the community at events, festivals, libraries and schools; Assist with the creation of promotional flyers for events.

  • Horticulture Intern: This position is responsible for assisting with maintenance of all gardens, a function that is essential to the mission of the Quad City Botanical Center. Responsibilities include assisting in maintaining garden displays; utilizing Integrated Pest Management techniques; work collaboratively with the Horticulture department to determine and carry out daily tasks; gather and put away tools needed for tasks and projects; learn how to use various equipment pieces, including but not limited to gator, pressure washer, and weed trimmer.
