The Viking Score is Augustana College’s career-readiness program to support students through college and post-graduate life by tracking experiences and awarding points to earn incentives along the way. The Viking Score motivates students to take small steps ensuring they are on the right path to getting to where they want to be.

Though Viking Score engagement was lower during the academic years affected by COVID, the team in Career Development & Vocation was able to work with several faculty to facilitate required, in-person Viking Score activities through classroom presentations. In 2021-2022 we were also able to assign Viking Score to the portfolio of one of our Career Coaches. As a result we have added monthly Viking Score check-in events, online Viking Score self-reporting, and four signature activities for each phase of the Viking score.

Experience: Try it Out
An integral part of achieving career success includes Gaining Experience. Examples of experiential learning include Internships, Student Research, Study Away, EDGE Center activities, Volunteer and Community Service, and Student Employment.
Career Ready: Share Your Story
Career Ready not only means you have the skills and experience future employers and graduate programs desire but also means you are able to identify and communicate what those Career Readiness Skills are.
Points & Incentives
Viking Score points are tallied for activities completed prior to April 30 each year. Students will be informed via email of their points, earned incentives, and how to pick them up.
